THE HISTORY OF CHINESE AMERICANS
Interactive Piece - Processing, p5.Js // December 2020 - January 2021
How do we move forward, if we do not know our past? The central theme of this piece is that we stand on the shoulders of those who come before us. In order to be better creatives, citizens, students, we need to learn where we have come from.
Our education is centered on the erasure of Asian Americans and the prioritization of Eurocentric history. This is the first piece in this interactive installation that will explore our various histories. We must not forget where we have come from, as all that progress can be lost in an instant.
We stand on their shoulders.
This interactive book explores the history of Chinese Americans through illustration and typography. This piece was created initially on Processing and made web-friendly through p5.js.
